Yesterday I wrote that NY Governor David Paterson is going to make the state Senatework through the weekend. He also wanted to withhold pay from the Senators, but Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli wasn’t having it.
But that was yesterday. Today DiNapoli’s had enough, too. And as the state’s head fiscal guy, that’s trouble for the Senators:

DiNapoli said his office has started the process to hold the pay of warring senators and has asked a judge to clarify the constitutional and legal issues.
“I have a responsibility to taxpayers to safeguard their interests,” DiNapoli said. “These are difficult fiscal times. The state needs leadership and action.”
DiNapoli’s decision affects the pay period ending July 8. Payroll for 62 senators amounts to some $190,000, or $3,049 per senator, every two weeks. [NY Daily News]
Maybe this will get them to vote on marriage equality.
