So remember earlier today when I wrote about GOProud’s Executive Jimmy LaSalvia at CPAC? Trying to make nice with one of the guys from NOM, who were just two booths away from GOProud? And remember how LaSalvia came across as practically begging to be liked by NOM? (“Simpering” was the word I used entirely because it was so appropriate.)
Well, after LaSalvia and the NOM guy parted ways (not sure who it was) with promises to bond over a beer summit (that’ll really get Obama!), the NOM guy went straight to his computer and sent out a diss of a NOM statement. To GOProud!
Many reporters, including Politico, have asked us how we feel about the fact GOProud is just a few booths over from us. We welcome everyone’s right to participate in the democratic process, but we have a message for GOProud on marriage: If you try to elect pro-gay-marriage Republicans, we will Dede Scozzafava them. The majority of Americans, and the vast majority of Republicans, support marriage as the union of husband and wife, and NOM is here to make sure these voters and their voices are heard loud and clear.
GOProud’s Chris Barron emailed Ben Smith over at Politico, “I guess the beer summit is off … unless, of course, a CNN camera is involved.”
LaSalvia was equally miffed, as we can see in the video above. “What kind of man can’t walk across the hall to deliver a message? Who’s the pansy at CPAC?”
(Does anyone else feel a GLAAD action alert coming?)
