Survey: Americans Believe Gays Subject To The Most Discrimination

Thu, Sep 10, 2009 by AKA William

A new Pew Forum survey that looked into how Americans view religious discrimination uncovered a small but important piece of information — Americans believe that gays and lesbians suffer more discrimination than any other minority:

The only group that Americans perceive as subject to more discrimination than Muslims is homosexuals; nearly two-thirds of adults (64%) say gays and lesbians face a lot of discrimination. About half say blacks (49%) and Hispanics (52%) suffer from a lot of discrimination, and more than a third (37%) say there is a lot of discrimination against women in the U.S. today.

This is as much bad news as it is good news, I think. Yes, we face the most discrimination, but most people agree with us.
