Uruguay seems to be taking the lead in LGBT rights lately.
The small South American country recently legalized same-sex civil unions and now allows gays to serve in the military, and although its gay adoption might have hit a speedbump, that doesn’t mean the fight for LGBT equality can’t go on! Because that’s exactly what they’re doing.
Uruguay’s version of the House recently passed a bill that that would give an individual the right to determine his or her gender, anatomy notwithstanding.
The bill goes on to the LGBT-supportive Senate, and then on to President Tabaré Vázquez, who has supported the other LGBT equality laws.
