Last week I wrote about two transgender people who were stabbed in a daylight attack on a Washington D.C. neighborhood. One person was killed, and the other hospitalized. There was some confusion surrounding the gender identity of the victims that I wanted to clear up.
The victims were both transgender women, and they were attacked while walking to the North Capitol Street offices of Transgender Health Empowerment. 21-year-old Ty’lia Mack was killed in the attack. I could not ascertain the identity of the other victim.
The attacks are being investigated as possible hate crimes.
A vigil for Mack was held last week
