Two American Trans Mayoral Candidates Stand Up, Fight The Good Fight

Tue, Aug 25, 2009 by AKA William

Two transwomen mayoral candidates are in the news today.

The first Melissa Sue Robinson, 58 and transsexual, is running for Mayor of Nampa, the second-largest city in the state of Idaho. And she is going to sue social networking site Twitter over a fake and malicious account:

A Twitter account was created in her name under the title the title “woman with a penis” and used to send lewd messages to other users. “I e-mailed Twitter and called them and did the same thing with Google and asked them to remove it and that was month ago and they haven’t removed it,” Ms Robinson told Idaho TV station Fox12.

She also said she was going to take legal action against the person, as yet unidentified, who created the Twitter account.

And Brittany Novotny, an Oklahoma City transgendered attorney, has decided to run against crazy religious zealot and anti-LGBTer, Oklahoma State Representative Sally Kern, for the intensely conservative House District 84 seat:

“I’m exploring a run for House District 84 because we need a representative who values all families in the district, who is dedicated to bringing good jobs to Oklahoma, and who will work tirelessly to make sure our children are getting the best education in our public schools. I believe I have the experience, drive, and determination to do that.”

Anyone else expecting fireworks from the Kern of it all?
