The White House Watermelon Cartoon Strikes Again

Wed, May 6, 2009 by AKA William

easter2How dumb do you have to be to be a bigot? Very!

Remember that California mayor who was fired a few months ago after emailing the cartoon of the White House with watermelons planted on the front lawn with the caption “No Easter Egg Hunt This Year?”

Well, back in November North Carolina’s now-former top liquor regulator, Doug Fox, thought it was a riot, too. So, ten days after Obama was elected, he sent an email out from his work address with the cartoon inside and the subject line “how true.” Yeah.

Yesterday, North Carolina’s Governor Beverly Perdue demanded and received Fox’s resignation after newspapers sent her a copy of Fox’s email. The governor said, “I have accepted Doug Fox’s letter of resignation. E-mails and images of this nature are offensive and unacceptable.” [News Observer]
