The OTHER Sex And The City — And This One Likes To Shock Gays, Too

Wed, Apr 22, 2009 by AKA William

sexandthecityoppositeYesterday, I wrote briefly about The Anglican Mainstream Organization holding an anti-gay conference in London this weekend called “Sex & the City.” The convention focuses on “homosexual reparative therapy.” Worse, the electro-shock UK gay-repairmen are being joined by American gay-repairman Dr. Joseph Nicolosi.

The full title of the convention is “Sex and the City: Redeeming Sex Today – A Judaeo-Christian Conference for All.” Do you think this is a case of “teabagging” where the Conservative crazies don’t know that “Sex & The City” is a kind of gay icon, too?

Either way, the Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association isn’t having it. And today they issued a statement.

“For the past 30 years, mainstream medicine and science have accepted that homosexuality is in no sense an illness, and as such, by definition, cannot be cured.”

There is no evidence that subjecting gay people to indoctrination and reprogramming can change their underlying sexuality. At most it can encourage people to suppress their true feelings, often with disastrous consequences, including ill-fated heterosexual marriages,” the statement continues.

“It is preying on the most emotionally vulnerable members of the gay community – those who are for any reason unhappy – in order to suck them into an intolerant and absolutist morality, without any regard for their needs or their nature.

The ‘ex gay’ movement is a deeply flawed and intolerant movement, alien to British standards of respect, tolerance, and simple common sense.” [UK Gay News]

1) This makes me wonder how the American Dr. Joseph Nicolosiwas allowed into the UK when just a few months ago The Westboro Crazies were denied entrance into the country based on their homophobia, and 2) That I wouldn’t mind watching a few episodes of the real “Sex and The City” to cleanse my mind.
