Yesterday was a big ol’ sports day, and while I was much more moved by the Australian Open men’s final (I have a post coming up in a bit dedicated entirely to it), I did manage to catch more than a few of the Super Bowl commercials. Based on nothing other than my very own, very personal preferences, these were the best and worst of yesterday’s Super Bowl XLIII commercials:
1) Heroes “Football Game:” TV’s worst show finally manages to do something right.
2) Pepsi “Forever Young:” Pepsi, the pro-gay company, merges Dylan and Will.I.Am into a commercial anthem, and showed a little 1960s male skin . . . I’m switching to Diet Pepsi.
3) Doritos asked viewers across the country to create funny ads and then they narrowed them to their five favorites. The winning entry, “Free Doritos,” cost $2000 to make.
4) The CareerBuilder.com commercial was, hands-down, the worst commercial. While I was doing some work yesterday (on the new featured panels!), I actually had to get up to make sure something wasn’t wrong with the TV.
