Ted Olson and David Boies (who joined in by phone) went on Hardball to continue making their case about their case that federal recognition for gay marriage should be decided by the courts.
Based on the U.S. Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision inLawrence vs. Texas, Chris Matthews thinks that they may have a shot with their federal challenge to Prop 8. Olson says:
You don’t take your constitutional rights to the ballot box. They are protected by the Constitution. That is why we have a Constitution and that’s why we have courts.
After watching this, I felt like I understood the reasoning behind filing a federal challenge just a bit better.
And is it me, or does Ted Olson sound a whole lot like Larry King?
