What I do love here is that Oprah steps up and treats being gay like the normalness that it is. To Haggard she said, “How can you deny who you are? What you are? Do you believe Christ accepts homosexuals?” Great for her to imply here that one’s sexuality is an unchangeable and inherent part of one’s humanity.
Haggard’s response? “I believe Jesus accepts to everyone . . . Jesus comes to the unrighteous.”
Yeah. This is a tragic man who has abandoned reason and goodness so that he can beat himself up with a bible in front of others — he’s the ultimate exhibitionist.
