Oh, this made me smile BIG. Love love love this.

Okay, you know James Randi, right? Or maybe you know him better as “The Amazing Randi?” Yeah, the funny magician with the long white beard who has dedicated his life to using science, reason, and critical thinking to debunk an array of religious myths, faith healers, and paranormal claims? Completely amazing, that Randi, right. And guess what? Yeah, he’s gay.

There’s a smell of change in the air, and it’s not coming from President Obama or other established leaders in Washington. It’s emanating from a new generation of LGBT activists who are putting increased pressure on lawmakers to pass equality of all shapes and sizes.

Big news week, and the last “Politics Happy Hour” of the week is correspondingly sized. We got gay Jamaican Christians, an update on the Atlanta Eagle, a study that shows gays make great parents, and some gay love for Al Franken.

I’m starting to really really really love Virginia’s Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli. The Cooch is on a roll lately with all of his crazy anti-gay behavior. And he’s keeping his string o’homophobia alive and well today. In an interview with CBS 6, the Attorney General Coochi-coo’d this when asked it homosexuality is a detriment to our society: “The acts are. You certainly want everybody in your society to be integrated into the society.”

Anyone understand what that means? Anyone? I bet Charo could help.

And he is not messing around. On the steps of the courthouse, with Capt. Pietrangelo, Choi said:

The message was very clear to all the people who think that equality can be purchased with a donation or with a cocktail party or with tokens that are serving in a public role, we are worth more than tokens. We have absolute value. ANd When the person who is oppressed by his own country wants to find out how to get that dignity back, being chained up, being arrested, that’s how you get that dignity conferred back upon you.

. . . We’re going to do it again and we’re going to keep doing it until the promises are manifest. This is a very clear message to President Obama and all leaders . . . we will not go away.
