Second Man Arrested In Memphis Gay Flag Burning, First Tied To Military

Yesterday I wrote that two men had attempted to burn a rainbow at the Memphis Gay and Lesbian Community Center. Ross Burton was arrested, while the other remained at large. Now, Wesley Huggins has also been arrested.

Burton, it turns out, is a member of the Memphis-based 164th airlift wing of the Tennessee Air National Guard.

Which gives a little bit of a twist to the defacing of the Memphis billboard featuring a gay Marine.

Burton, free on $10,000 bond, is charged with assault and vandalism. Huggins, who was booked Thursday and released on his own recognizance, is charged with vandalism, assault and setting fire to personal property.

BTW, Ross Burton’s father is Colonel David Burton, the former commander of the 164th Airlift Wing.
