Roskoff’s Raucous Politics: As The Dust Settles

Fri, Nov 6, 2009 by AKA William

roskoffAllen Roskoff is AKA William’s new Political Director and columnist. Allen will be bringing us the best, the worst, and the unbelievable in LGBT politics.

Need help with separating the politicized spin from the political facts?

Let Allen give you a hand.

The New York’s Times Maureen Dowd’s October 25, 2009 column accuses the Catholic Church of being misogynistic, homophobic, and of enabling rampant pedophilia.

She reports that “Pope Benedict XVI wrote a Vatican document urging women to be submissive partners, resisting any adversarial roles with men and cultivating ‘feminine values’ like ‘listening, welcoming, humility, faithfulness, praise and waiting.’” Dowd also reminds readers that the Pope was once a conscripted member of the Hitler Youth, and pardoned a schismatic bishop who claimed that there was no Nazi gas chamber. Benedict also maintains that distributing condoms in Africa could make the AIDS crisis worse.

Know what I think? I think the government should take over the Catholic Church, citing human rights and criminal violations that include the practiced pedophilia that have taken place in the archdiocese’s churches.

I suggest the government should then turn the Church into a brothel. The real estate would then be taxable, and there could be a tax on services rendered. The men and women providing services would, of course, be under health restrictions and anti- trafficking guarantees. I’d also insist that scholarships be granted for those too poor to pay for the brothel’s valuable and often-required services.

Speaking of “Houses of Ill Repute,” as you all know mega Republican donor Michael “Leviticus” Bloomberg was, with the help of some gay people, reelected NYC’s mayor. The gay “leaders” who sold out and supported him should just quit or be thrown out of the Democratic Party and re-register themselves as Republicans. They should stay away from Democratic Party functions and be seen as the traitors they are. They should also stop referring to themselves as “warriors” and “civil rights activists.” They have severely damaged the gay rights movement by giving aid and comfort to the enemy, a candidate running on the Republican Party line, and one who is also the Republican Party’s biggest donor.

But kudos to the newly-elected City Comptroller John Liu (staunchly pro gay rights) for refusing to dine with the Mayor the day after the election for a photo-op, saying he could not find time in his schedule. Mr. Liu also told a reporter: “A long time ago, the people of New York decided there would be no king, nor a monarch in New York City.” Good for you, John.

The conservative and forever-closeted former Mayor Ed Koch denounced John Liu for being rude to Mayor Michael “Moneybags” Bloomberg. When Koch says one is wrong, you can almost always rely on the person being correct. Koch says that Liu’s “effort to embarrass the mayor is outrageous.” I say that Koch’s remaining in the closet is outrageous.

Good for Dowd. The Vatican is an evil, hateful country that the US shouldn’t have diplomatic relations with.
