President Obama isn’t the only one having trouble reaching across the aisle. Samantha Scafe, an overweight Australian trans woman, is having her own across-the-aisle difficulties. Just last week, the woman was forced to buy a second seat on the airline “for other people’s comfort,” only to find that her seats were not adjacent. Then, bizarrely, it happened again:
AN overweight transgender woman who was charged for two seats by Jetstar has been given them on either side of the aisle for the second time.. . . Ms Scafe, who made international headlines when Jetstar charged her for two seats, says she discovered the new seating error when checking her booking.
“You wouldn’t believe it, would you, but when I logged on to double-check my booking for the return flight, I was allocated to B and E seats,” Ms Scafe said.
. . . When asked about her weight, Ms Scafe said she suffers from several medical problems that made weight-loss virtually impossible and she had already alerted Jetstar to her situation before last month’s booking. She takes steroids and insulin for chronic asthma and Type 2 diabetes, and has numerous allergies.
Scafe has been told by the airline a system error is to blame for the repeated seating gaffe.
