From her enclosure in an Adelaide Zoo, 27-year-old Karta the orangutan short-circuited wires, built a ladder out of branches, and escaped to freedom. After an hour of scaring everyone inside and forcing an evacuation of the Zoo, Karta climbed sheepishly back in to her enclosure.
Zoo officials are saying that her escape was related to the recent death of her mate. Poor baby.
