And it’s starting today. Via the NYT:

New York’s highest court will hear arguments Tuesday in a pair of cases that could have implications for the pitched debate over same-sex marriage in the state.
In one case, the opponents are challenging a 2007 policy, adopted by the State Department of Civil Service, that extended health insurance benefits to the same-sex partners of state and local government employees who married out of state.
In the other case, the opponents are seeking to overturn a similar administrative order, issued in 2006 by Andrew J. Spano, the Westchester County executive, directing county officials to recognize same-sex unions performed elsewhere.
The two cases are narrower in scope than previous same-sex marriage lawsuits, but still focus on the broader effort to have the NY state government recognize same-sex marriages.

Hm…. maybe i’m being an uber-picky semantics nazi but the wording about how the cases “focus on the broader effort to have the NY state government recognize same-sex marriages.” makes it sound like these cases are in our favor.
It just seems to me a better wording (the NYT did it too) would be that they focus is on forcing the state government to stop recognizing same sex unions of any kind. If the Alliance Defense Fund [ptew] wins these cases it’ll be a punch in the gut to the foothold we already have in New York.
eh I’m being picky. I still love you.
