In a story that has spanned everything from charges of sex with a minor to nude pictorials in Unzipped (link NSFW), Portland Mayor Sam Adams has finally been cleared of any wrongdoing in his relationship with Beau Breedlove. From Oregon Live:

Attorney General John Kroger said today that he will not pursue criminal charges against Portland Mayor Sam Adams after investigators couldn’t confirm accounts from a former legislative intern.
In a 17-page report, Kroger’s staff said they couldn’t find any independent evidence to confirm Beau Breedlove’s account that he kissed Adams twice romantically in 2005 when the younger man was underage.
. . . “Here, there are serious questions about the credibility of Breedlove’s account, due to his prior inconsistent statements, the lack of corroborating witnesses or evidence, his attempt to gain personally from matters related to his involvement with Adams and his prior criminal record,” the report states.
“Accordingly, we have concluded there is insufficient evidence to charge, let alone convict, Adams with illegal sexual contact with a minor.”
After the announcement, Adams issued a statement saying, “I made mistakes in my personal life that led to this investigation. As a result, the city I love was put through an ordeal. I am gratified the investigation has been completed, and I want to reiterate that I am sorry.”
