I wish I could tell you there was a reason to make your lunch appointment at a record store today, but…I can’t. On the happier side of things, I can assure you that things change next Tuesday and stay in our favor for some weeks to come.

It’s not an entirely wasted week, however. The new Lily Allen could have something interesting happening on It’s Not Me, It’s You, but from what I’ve heard so far (which is very little) there’s just some springy, shuffly beats going down while Lily practices her moxy and mockney as her cute voice flirts with your head throughout. Roit. I’ll listen to more. You listen to this:

india.arie usually has some of the most genuine, inspiring lyrics and melodies that someone can offer. After Life & Relationship she’s now offering us her Testimony on Love & Politics, but I have yet to even hear the first single from Volume 2. Come on labels! Hook me up with some ear candy.

You can never go wrong with anything Bowie. Today the last of the “Best Of” series from Virgin is available for digital download. This is some essential Bowie from 1980-1987…all digitally remastered. Mmmm. This was the period where I jumped in feet first and went to see him on the Serious Moonlight Tour at Hershey Park. Huge bouncing globes and David’s undone bow-tie. The shuffle of him and his suit. The first time I ever smelled marijuana. Yee haw! “Under the moonlight. The serious moonlight.” Shortly after, I began obsessing over the back catalog. And everything to be released since. (Yes, Tin Machine included.) Here is one David’s best known hits, a staple of 80’s radio and MTV and one of my favorite songs ever.
