How Many Of Us Showed Up For National Equality March?

Mon, Oct 12, 2009 by AKA William

Gay Rights MarchThe estimates of the size of the crowd that gathered yesterday for the National Equality March and rally in are covering a pretty wide range. D.C. authorities don’t disclose crowd estimates at rallies, but there are the numbers I’ve come across.

The AP: ” . . . the crowd appeared to number in the tens of thousands . . . ”

Washington Post: “Tens of thousands of gay rights supporters marched from the White House to the Capitol Sunday . . . ”

The Advocate: ” . . . some 200,000 people gathered for the National Equality March . . . ”

NYT: “The organizers were rating the march a success, saying that at least 150,000 people had attended.”

Whatever the total number is, the March and rally was a remarkable experience.

Throughout today, I will posting a lot about the March, with videos and photos as I comb through and manage them.
