Hate Crimes Bill Re-Introduced To Congress, And Tony Perkins Can’t Even Think About It

Fri, Apr 3, 2009 by AKA William

tony-perkinsThe Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act, also known as the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act, was re-introduced to Congress with bipartisan support by Reps. John Conyers (D-MI) and Mark Kirk (R-IL). Obama has said that if the bill is passed he would sign it.

And, of course, Family Research Council President and Michelangelo Signorile debater Tony Perkins ain’t having it. A few days ago, he sent out a plea to pray the gay away:

Please help FRC Action persuade conservatives and centrist Democrats in the Congress to stop a proposed federal “hate crimes” law that could lead to the criminalization of the biblical view of homosexuality in sermons and elsewhere.

With your secure online gift, FRC Action — the legislative advocacy arm of Family Research Council — will be your voice to protect the gospel and tell Congress: “The Bible is no hate crime!”

. . . Now, President Obama has made passing the Hate Crimes law a top priority.

A “hate crimes” law is really a “thought crime” law that punishes a person’s beliefs-part of the Left’s intolerant agenda to silence the voice of Christians and Conservatives in America and eliminate moral restraint.

Tony Perkins is so funny. It’s not just that he wants to be able to think homophobic thoughts — he wants to be liked for thinking them. Aw, every day is still high school lunchtime for Tony Perkins!

You learn all about “fighting hate crimes” FRC’s “action” site, Fight Hate Crimes. Honestly, I absolutely hate that Perkins is using this type of language camouflage — fight hate crimes? Uh, hardly.
