Remember a few months ago when GLSEN launched an effort to stop the use of the homophobic phrase “that’s so gay” with its kind of bitchy and totally effective ThinkB4YouSpeak ad campaign featuring copy like this: “That’s so ‘gamer guy who has more video games than friends.’” Great, right?
Well, GLSEN has seen that ad campaign and raised it a social media watchdog with ThinkB4YouSpeak’s launch of its new widget — a gay slur counter for Twitter! Yup, every time someone on Twitter tweets a “fag” or a “so gay” or “dyke” or “homo” it gets counted.
I love this so much, I’ve added the slur counter to the right sidebar of AKA William. (I don’t like when those words are used at all by anyone for any reason.)
Seriously, check it out. Oh, and if you have a site, you can grab the widget code, too.
