I think we’re all still a little high from yesterday’s celebrations, and as deflating as the Rick Warren/Bishop Robinson/No Gay Marriage fiascos have been, I have to admit that I feel a little bit lighter today and a lot more, yes, hopeful. On The Daily Show, Jon Stewart asked Bishop Gene Robinson if he thought there could ever be a gay president, and Robinson answered, “Absolutely . . . that dream is now in place for us.” And you know what? It is. As far off as it might seem now, we now know that a far-off dream can eventually become a present-day reality. We gays now have a goal, a direction, a place to go. And it’s up to us to keep marching.
