Today, around 10AM PST, the California Supreme Court will issue its decision on Prop 8.
Depending on how the Court has decided, tonight there will either be organized celebrations or organized protests all over the country. You can find your location over on Day of Decision.
Something to keep in mind — with the suite of lawsuits argued before the Court regarding Prop 8, the Court doesn’t have to decide whether gay marriage is legal — they did that last summer and found that it was legal. Instead, the Court must decide whether voter-approved Prop 8, which amended the state’s constitution, legally stripped gay people of the right to marry. So the question is more “Was Prop 8 legal?” than it is “Should gays be allowed to marry?”
I’ll post updates as they come in.
