Yesterday, a bill that would bring all state language in line with the October Connecticut Supreme Court ruling that said denying marriage to same-sex couples is unconstitutional, was approved by the Connecticut’s General Assembly’s Judiciary Committee. It now goes on to a vote by both state houses.
If approved by the Senate, then the House and signed into law by the governor, the legislation would also create a transition period for those same-sex couples who joined together in civil unions. Couples could either end those existing unions or automatically become married under state law. [Connecticut Post]
