I came across this story over the weekend, but I didn’t know that a) the students were cheerleaders, and b) the teacher took them to a gay bar. Now that is a story! (And a movie, I think. . . . )
Lori Epperson, 37, taught marketing at Edgewood High School in Dayton, Ohio. Apparently, the 17- and 18-year-old cheerleaders begged Epperson to let them go to a gay bar. Ms. Epperson didn’t think it was a good idea for them to go alone, so, being a conscientious teacher, she created a Gay Bar Field Trip, got permission from the cheerleaders’ parents to take the students, and off they went.
And that is where, of course, the plan went wrong.
Once they got to the bar, the four students went upstairs where someone they knew bought them Cosmos and shots. This obviously violated a number of school, state, and federal laws, but before Epperson could scoop up the errant cheerleaders, one of the young women had to barf.
Now, a story like that isn’t going to stay quiet for long. And within days, the teacher herself was called into the principal’s office and, ultimately, asked to resign. And just as bad, the cheerleaders were forbidden from participating in a cheerleading competition because of the school’s zero tolerance policy about alcohol consumption.
I have at least one question: How did they get into the bar?

Hey AKA, most rural bars are 18+, even when you have to be 21 to drink. I’m guessing the 17 year old’s had fakes or used their friend’s IDs.
The question here is, did the teacher have to resign because she took students to an establishment that served alcohol & they took advantage of that OR because she took the students to a gay establishment. What do you think?

I’m pretty sure she had to resign because the girls got drunk. And you just know that the girl who got drunk and started throwing up at the bar is all kinds of ostracized at school.
