Weekend news anchor Brandon Rudat was let go from Channel 7 months ahead of the expiration of his contract:
Rudat’s ouster comes just days after the station axed longtime anchor Randy Price, who had been with the station for 12 years and was the country’s first openly gay newscaster. Rudat is also openly gay. The executive producer of the 11 p.m. news, Jorge Gonzalez, was also recently let go.
The three were shown the door after being at odds with the station’s showy and in-your-face news coverage.
. . . I have no hard feelings. This is the decision that they’ve come too. I have to accept it and I’m moving on in my life,” Rudat said.
Rudat says he looking to work in New York City and Los Angeles.
