White House spokesman Robert Gibbs yesterday indicated that President Obama, despite his campaign promise to do so, will not intervene to keep gay servicemembers, like 1st Lt. Dan Choi, from being discharged under the DADT policy.
Cooper asked Choi how he felt hearing this news. Choi’s response: “It’s really insulting, it’s really a slap in the face.” He went on to say, “I will not shut up, and I will not be forced to be silent.”
Choi also talks about finding love for the first time in the past few months after living 10 years under the DADT policy.
