Hi folks,
Welcome to the new and improved AKA William. After a very long week of troubleshooting browser issues, redesigning the site, and fending off some nasty attacks by some anti-LGBT hackers who didn’t like what my gay self had to say about all things gay, AKA William is back! And kinda better than ever.
You might have noticed the redesign. Let me break it down for you.
So, because of the issues I was having, I decided to do the two birds-one stone thing and speed up the rollout of the redesign.
Although I wanted to I wanted keep the overall look and feel of the site, I also wanted to clean up the front page of AKA William and make it more of a destination for the latest in front page LGBT news. So now the site is a little more magazine/newspaper-y while, hopefully, maintaining the best feature of blogs — the scrolling! Who doesn’t like to browse through stories?
In addition to changing the color of the site just a bit, I also added a contributors’ column just to the right of the front page so all of the amazing AKA William contributors now have their very own little spot. (Oh, and they also have their very own bio pages!)
And, just a heads up — both the Video Lounge and the SFW side of AKA William will be temporarily unavailable while I make some tweaks to them. But they’ll be back soon!
I know that some sites can, and do, visually overwhelm readers with too much information crammed into too little space. I hope I have avoided that. I’ll still be tweaking things here and there, and I’d love to hear your feedback about the changes.
Also, the Internet Explorer bug has been fixed. It was a buggy little thing, that bug. If you continue to experience it try clearing your browser’s cache. That should do it. But if it doesn’t, please let me know! I love stomping out bugs.
And a big ol’ thank you to the comments and emails from readers who sent me all kinds of love this week. Your support is very much appreciated.
Now, let’s get back to all kinds of gay, shall we? I can’t tell you how much I’ve missed it.
UPDATE: Just a hint with IE 8 — if you have issues with sites that contain lots of video content (YouTube, Vimeo, Huffington Post, sometimes AKA William, etc.), crashing the browser, you can adjust your computer’s DEP settings so that IE 8 isn’t so hyperactive when it comes to potentially memory-intensive sites.

@ Jimmy,
Glad brought that up! I meant to address it in the post. The Video Lounge is temporarily unavailable because I have all kinds of sexy plans for it. I’m still tweaking it, but when the VL is back? Yeah, sexy. I’ll keep you guys posted.
