Aiyi’nah Ford Speaks At Washington D.C. Marriage Equality Rally

Thu, Nov 5, 2009

aiyinah-ford-dcLast night on the year anniversary of Prop 8’s passing, in cities across the country, people gathered, in the wake of the Maine elections, to rally for marriage equality.

Earlier today I wrote that, bizarrely, Maggie Gallagher showed up at the Washington D.C. rally. But, do you know who else showed up there? And spoke? Aiyi’nah Ford! She is the woman who, to me, gave the most moving speech at the National Equality March.

I was thrilled to listen to her again. The clip I have is short — about two minutes — so if any of you locate longer versions, please send them to me!

In the meantime, please listen to Aiyi’nah Ford’s moving words at the D.C. rally last night.

If you haven’t noticed I am guilty of googling myself on a regular basis. I am so glad that you were present at the rally. I invite you to join Full Equality DC NOW and come to some of the organizing meetings. Furthermore, I really wish you would have come and spoke to me! I am dying to meet you and did not know you were local. As always, thank you for the love and support!

    Kindest Regards,
    Aiyi’nah

    @ Aiyi’nah,

I am in NYC, not DC. The day after the D.C. rally, I was sitting here, typing away, with the D.C. protest playing on YouTube in the background. Then, I heard a bit of a voice that made me sit up straighter. I knew that voice. It was yours! So, I sat back and once again listened to what you had to say. And I loved it.

I am dying to meet you, too! We gotta work out a coffee date or something, right?
