15 Sexist Vintage Ads

Mon, Jun 1, 2009 by AKA William

sexistad5Reader Jose tipped me off to Oddee.com’s 15 Sexist Vintage Ads. When I first read the title of the collection, I thought it said “15 Sexiest Vintage Ads,” so when I checked out the link I was like, “Uh . . . these ain’t very sexy!”

And that’s because they aren’t — they are sexist. And craaaazy. Something not seen since or heard in decades . . . or since Glenn Beck’s last show.

Although we live in a world where Sonia Sotomayor’s menstrual cycle is still being cited as a reason to keep her from the U.S. Supreme Court, it’s good to be reminded how far we’ve come. Well, most of us, anyway.

The gallery is actually 16 ads, by the way. My favorite? “Because innocence is sexier than you think.”

Check out all of the out of control-ness, beyond “Mad Men” level of sexism.
